Overview of Partners & Their Roles
By building partnerships, supporting planners, modernizing tools, and promoting transparency, NCPP helps ensure effective conservation on the land and lasting benefits for the people and natural resources. In this section, you’ll become familiar with each of the five partners, who they are, and the work they accomplish in conservation.
National Association of Conservation Districts
The National Association of Conservation Districts (NACD) is a nonprofit organization representing America’s nearly 3,000 conservation districts covering virtually all the private lands of the country and the people who serve on their boards. NACD believes that decisions around conservation should be made at the local level, with support from federal, state, and local governments and private organizations. NACD works with these organizations and agencies to fully support and promote the work of each conservation district.
Natural Resources Conservation Service
The National Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) was established in 1935 to combat the nation’s soil erosion crisis. Today, NRCS has expanded far beyond soil conservation, supporting America’s farmers, ranchers, and forest landowners to implement conservation practices and improve the quality of our precious resources. With 2,300 Service Centers nationwide, NRCS offers voluntary conservation programs in every state and territory.
National Association of State Conservation Agencies
The National Association of State Conservation Agencies (NASCA) is an organization created to promote collaboration across state lines. Through annual meetings and field staff sharing sessions, State Agency officials have the opportunity to share ideas, innovations, strategies, and information with colleagues from across the nation. NASCA also provides educational seminars and webinars, offering training and insight on a variety of conservation topics.
National Conservation District Employees Association
The National Conservation District Employees Association (NCDEA) was established in February 1992, led by a passion for the local conservation delivery system. NCDEA supports conservation district employees to foster collaboration, innovation, and excellence in conservation efforts. Each employee member brings their knowledge and experience to discussions surrounding conservation programs, policies, and procedures.
National Association of RC&D Councils
The National Association of RC&D Councils (NARCDC) supports local communities in their efforts to improve land, lives, and livelihoods. Through trust, collaboration, and hands-on projects, NARCDC helps bridge the gap between people, ideas, and the actions needed to create real progress in transforming communities and the people who call them home.
